Mac Gets Gta
IPB Image

Rockstar have announced that GTA3, Vice City and San Andreas are going to be released for Apple's Macs later this year. (Probably in time for Christmas).

QUOTE
[...] Look for the long-awaited release of the classic Grand Theft Auto Trilogy (Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas) for Mac - most likely later this year. We'll have much more info and a proper announcement soon. But, yes, in case you were wondering, that is a world exclusive from Asked and Answered. [...]

Military Bans Game
The US Military has banned the sale of the latest Medal of Honor video game on all bases. The reasoning behind it is that in part of the game the player can play as the Taliban and shoot US soldiers. All the fuss

About a month or more ago I posted a thread which asked the question why nobody has created a game where the "good guys" became the enemy. It seems at that someone has partially somewhat done this. Kudos. EA finally shows some balls. Maybe baddies in shooters will be a little more diverse in the future. I for one am getting tired of shooting Germans, Russians, Japanese, Arabs and South Americans. I want some new ethnicities and nationalities to throw grenades at. With the new Medal of Honor game I'll get to do just that.

Sony Blocks Aussie Jailbreak
One the greatest things about the Sega Dreamcast was the huge community of homebrewers. Apparently Sony will have none of that. They have recently succeeded in blocking Jailbreak which would allow for homebrewing in the PS3. Sony Homebrew won't be for you

Duke Nukem Forever Ever
3D Realms may be pushing up daises, but the legendary project that would not die is defying death yet again. New Studio Picks Up Nukem

The discovery of the lost city of Atlantis. The capturing of the Lock Ness Monster. Definitive proof of Bigfoot and UFOs. Great tasting low-fat frozen yogurt and the release of Duke Nukem Forever. One of these is not like the other. Unfortunately it isn't the low-fat frozen yogurt.

Google Age Discrimination Trail Goes Forward
Oh silly Google. Tricks aren't for search engines. Age discrimination huh. "You're not a cultural fit." No seriously, they did say that. I'm not kidding. Read it for yourself.

The only thing that's "Old" is your attitudes about talent Google. thumbdown.gif

Q1-2 Losers
Every year there are a group of games that do very well. Then there are the games that fail to meet expectations. Yahoo has compiled a list of just such games. Some mentions surprised me. Other didn't. FAIL

Wings Of Liberty: Raves And Rips
Critics and Gamers are already at each others throats just after the release of the much anticipated sequel to 1998's Starcraft. LINK

Despite the fact that I have not played this game I do have to wholeheartedly agree with Amazon's Neosplicer that single player campaigns are getting downsized in favor of multiplayer content. Too many developers are releasing partial games with lame single player features. It seems I'm not the proverbial urine-drinking hermit all alone in the wilderness in my feeling that this is a copout by unimaginative or just plain lazy developers catering almost exclusively to the online multiplayer crowd. Multiplayer mode is fine. Don't get me wrong on this. But it's kind of like selling box Mac n' Cheese with just the cheese powder and no pasta. Developers = FAIL.

Terabyte Out Of Stress: Video Games Relax
Well Texas A&M is actually good for something other than destroying lives and careers, undermining faculty senates, treating satellite schools like a red headed stepchild's best friend with a learning disability, and kicking puppies. TA&M International has just finished a study that indicates that playing video games, particularly violent ones, actually aids in easing stress. It would seem to contradict the notion that violent video games turns everyone into tightly wound unreasoning violent anti-social psychopaths hell bent on destroying the innocent in a delusional quest for whatever tightly wound unreasoning delusional violent anti-social psychopaths quest for.

WoW RoW VoW
Players of MMORPG leviathan World of Warcraft are putting Blizzard games in their collective doghouse over a proposed plan to require real names for chat purposes. Those black gummy globules you see washing up on Texas/Mexican Gulf coast aren't from the oil spill. Thats the **** hitting the fan from the fallout from this proposal. MMORPGeez Loueeez

Back when I was playing Everquest I had hear rumors of something like this. Nothing shakes malcontents out of the woodwork faster than threatening their anonymity. A large segment of MMORPG players play these games for just this reason. Threatening privacy is a can of worms best not opened. If a legislator is pushing this, or is being pushed into this, than that legislator has to show some cajones to his "constituency" or be voted out by people who aren't. 2 cents submitted.

Another 48 Hrs: Extreme Gamers
No, this is not a thread about the sequel to perhaps the greatest buddy cop movies ever made. This is about the findings of a recent study which uncovers some of America's most extreme gamers and the hours they rack up to earn their way in the exclusive 4%. These gamers have been reported to average 7 hours of playing every day in any given week.

Here are their numbers: Komputer Welt
