At least a part of the wait is over. Now we can say with reassurance that one of the greatest franchises in the history of video games is reanimated, in short - Fallout is back!

IPB Image

The beautiful teaser features an atmosphere very true to the post-nuclear genre, as well as the song "I Don't Want to Set the World On Fire" by the Ink Spots (whose song "Maybe" as you may remember was used in the original Fallout), and the classic "War...war never changes" slogan of the series, marking a return of Ron Perlman as narrator. Oh, and don't forget the power armour - it's definitely back!

The trailer is entirely in-engine, meaning that it looks just about how we will see the game when it ships around Fall 2008.

Head over to the official site and see the trailer for yourself if for some reason you haven't done it already.

Damn nice! Looks like bethesda could reproduce that awesome fallout feeling that no other game has. I hope they don't screw it up, this'll knock stalker off the top place of my favorite games list. It's so far away though. Postal 3 is due out in 2008 too.

Stalker? Hmph. Just a shooter.

One thing that's good about Beth is that they release lots of info (they did about Oblivion). Now, they might keep this under wraps, but I don't think so - they've got some serious marketing to do to introuce more people to the Fallout world.
Have you seen the poll on Gamespot? A little less than 50% answered "What is Fallout?"!! Kiddies, the whole lot of 'em!

(I better switch off before this becomes a rant)

For most. For me it has a lot more potential.

Yeah it's sad. But it wouldn't be any better if we'd hand out a copy of fallout for all of them. Then they'd be all "OMG GRAPHICS ARE SO OLD! THIS GAME SUCKS!" This way at least the previous generation can tell them it was one of the best games of all time.

Stalker was supposed to be Fallout-like, and it turned out to be an original shooter with a very good atmosphere and faint RPG elements, but surely nothing more than that? (not counting mods that were/are being done)

Btw, I've got an F3 wally now. Made it myself from that logo they have. Oh and I've watched the teaser several times - it's going to be grand.

ohmy.gif Wow that looks really cool. I always liked the setting Fallout was in but never played it.

Yeah, NMA posted that a couple of days ago. Although I don't like them, they do have a great news service.

200 endings are gonna be a PITA, it was already hard enough to figure out how to get all 7 on Stalker

It's not what you think, it's 200 different combinations. I'm willing to bet they are going to follow the Fallout ending tradition, meaning that those 200 combinations will be text, describing the consequences of your actions, with a pic (or vid) as background.

A huge dilemma for me - do I get it on the 360 or PC? I'm sure I could do both, but do I really need the 360 version...?
