My computer just got blasted with a shit load of spywares, and i have NO f****** way how it got pass thru my firewall..anyways i ran adware and spybot to remove the spyware, then when i went to restart, since i had a problem loading my AV prog.Once i restarted,i get stuck on a blue page that says Starting Windows, then i hear beep.I can boot into safe mode without any problems
----------------------------------
Right now i am running AVG Anti Virus in Safe mode, then i am thinking about re-running Adware to try and clear some shit out.If those dont work, then i might have to use shitty system restore, which i kinda dont wanna use
-----------------------------------
Right now,i am using my mom's P3 650mhz 192mb Win 98 machine

Uh shit.
Umm.
That happens.
If you've got original Windows, try to repair installation.
If not...

Uh, your 5k+ ( tongue.gif ) songs will not be erased after you repair, I'm almost sure, but you'd better check again.

What you can do is, get Parttion Magic, split your HDD in two parts - one for WIndows, another for the rest - and put all of your songs in the other part, format the Windows part, install new Windows...and it'll be fine.

I'm sure PM can run in Safe Mode.

What about trying the PartMagic one. It's how I do to keep my data safe from any Windows errors.

Uhm. It's just a handy prog which will split your HDD on several parts, which are called partitions (C:, D:, E:, etc.)
One partition can be formatted without touching the other, that's the use. If you can run that on safe mode...

Why did you have to keep your songs on the Win98 comp tongue.gif

does it write CD's...I know it's gonna take a while to tranfer 5000+ songs by CD Rw's... laugh.gif

bangin.gif Disconnect from the internet so it cant reinstall.

Go into add/remove progams and uninstall anything unfamiliar.

Then, run virus and spyware scans.

All of this in safe mode ofcourse(just start normal safe mode, no networking or command promp)

Just to be sure that your safe or if you can't remove something with standard anti-spyware like AdAware try running HiJack This

It will show you ALL of the things that are registered on your computer. Just be very VERY careful about what you remove with it. Take the time to do the research on your other computer about what everything is there, because it will show you legit registry keys as well. If you have any questions, post the results here and I will do my best to help you understand it. It will definitely kill anything that a normal anti-spyware program cannot.
