QUOTE
Aan de oevers van de Dijle
Diep verscholen, in het riet
Zat een kleine jonge kikker
Bij zen moeder op de knie

Kijk eens daar

Doe nogaltij eve zeer

Now that's literature!

We had The Simpsons version of The Raven as our English listening exam at Christmas.

Ha, nice little rhyme (that I can actually understand, adjusting for weird grammatical changes, which I suppose are Belgian?). is it a children's rhyme?

Oh, actually it's a modified version of:

QUOTE

And there seem to be more variations.

There are a lot of variations on that poem. I don't have a clue on the origins but I do believe it's a fairly old one. My sister taught it to me when I was around 12 I think. She was in uni and they sang songs like that. Obviously the content is a bit adjusted to their "mature level".

This is an example of a parody of that poem from a student's club in Ghent.

QUOTE

Haha. Is that the official student version? I'd check it but I don't have my codex around now.
