G-Unleashed Forums _ Main Site News - For posting Gaming and G-Unleashed News _ Front Page News Posting Rules

Posted by: IKHAM Jul 16 2006, 18:37

Hey Guys!

Topics posted in this forum will appear on the front page of g-unleashed.com. Thus all topics made here need approval from a member of staff before they can be seen.

Because these topics appear on the front page there are some strict rules that MUST be met before your topic can be approved.

Headline - Your topic title is the news headline. Make sure it outlines the news article in as little words as possible.

Writing Style - We ask members to post news in good quality style. Informative and interesting are the key elements so try and make it as fun and interesting as possible.

Sourcing - Please write your news post in your own words. You can source articles from other sites by quoting and providing a link to them. Please do not copy news directly from other websites, this is against our site rules.

Post an image! - We love images, so adding an image to compliment your news post will increase the chance of your news being approved. Images can be placed in the topic using the image tags and should be NO MORE THAN 375px wide.

Approval - Please don't be disheartened by a news post not being posted. You are free to ask us why and we will let you know. Have another go and you'll soon be writing excellent news articles.

Good luck and most of all have fun!! thumbsup.gif

The rules are good but I strongly object to this:

No BAD LANGUAGE or JOKES! News postings should be of a formal nature.
C'mon we should be able to make some jokes. Say, little jokes like http://www.g-unleashed.com/index.php?cat=51#news_394, are they allowed?

QUOTE(IKHAM @ Jul 16 2006, 14:37 ) *

SPELLING AND GRAMMAR We need the utmost standard of spelling and grammar. Staff will do there best to correct any minor spelling and grammar mistake, but if your post is riddled with them, your news posting will not be approved.

CANNOT Stress this enough, Your suff is going on the front page, it NEEDS proper grammar.

When i mean joking, i mean stupidity. Of course you can take a tongue in cheek approach. tongue.gif

Hate to be a nazi, but if admins and mods are approving posts and topics, how come spelling is not getting fixed:

QUOTE(eddaket @ Jul 18 2006, 08:46 ) *

Coming in on August 22, along with the original Madden '07, comes a different version of the game. For $10 more, you can get a bonus DVD. Dubbed the "Hall of Fame Edition," it will have more than two hours of bonus footage, and it will be a collectors item. This Item has been a rumour for a while, but now it is a reality.

Priced at $59.99 (PS2) and $69.99 (X360), the PS2 version will have a preview of the PS3 version.

John Madden, who has been the sponser of the game for over a decade, was inducted into the Hall of Fame himself earlier this year, and that may be the reason for this game. This is a great buy for players and collectors alike.

It appears to me that bold does not stand out that good in quotes

But aren't we supposed to proof-read our posts before we post them? Or at least make an effort to keep it 100% free from any of those errors? I think we should have spell and grammar checkers in the posting area. Or would that be impossible? Sorry for making the suggestion here, but I just got a little bit excited.

Posted by: IKHAM Aug 2 2006, 12:24

We could install spell checkers, but they are not 100% assurance that the post will be perfect.

Ryder please try to post news that is just not a Giant Quote. Put some of it into your own words.

That is why I rejected the VCS delay topic.

A small reminder: all game-specific news belong in their sections. Don't post try to post news about IV or the new NFS or something in here.
