Maybe they really were bought out by Electronic Arts. No NHL 2010 (an EA title) for PC this year either. I could see a GTA: LCS/VCS/CW combo port for PC at $35-$40 retail. Or via DL.

I wonder how the PSP version is going look and work. A lot of stuff in CW needed the stylus interface.

Me neither, but that's because i don't have one. If for whatever reason i wanted a handheld console i'd get a DS. At least that's half decent with a good library of games.

As far as i can see the PSP barely gets anything besides EA releases.

According to Wired: "Rockstar said that the game would feature upgraded graphics and new story missions, but did not release any screens of the PSP version. It will be released on disc and for direct download."

It'll have to feature more than that. Rockstar will have to work around or rework an interface system to compensate for the lack of the touch screen. RS being as inventive as they are I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. With the new version of the PSP coming out, older versions will come down in price. I could pick up a cheaper PSP and get GTA CW for it. Those that want to get a DS now should do so. With the DSi out older DS systems have come down in price. Doing a little comparison shopping can get you a copy of CW at a fairly reasonable price. If anyone feels guilty for buying a console handheld just for one game I will gladly post a list of other great games that will appeal to an older audience.

As for updated graphics I am also a little confused how they'll do it. I hope it won't lose any of its charm with better graphics. But as with the issue of the lack of touch screen interface I will give Rockstar the benefit of the doubt.

Emulators are like pouring artificial sweetener all over fresh fruit. It leaves a funny taste in the mouth no matter what fruit or how fresh it is. No substitute for real sugar. Sure, sometimes it's hard to find and can be expensive when you do, but its still a worthwhile investment.

(on a side note, Ballad of Gay Tony will be coming to the console soon. I think it's about time Rockstar releases Lost on PC.)

10 days until Grand Theft Auto Chinatown Wars is released on PSP. I know those who are going to pirate it are going to do that which way that or the other. Although those who want it legit can have an easier time doing so. I just ordered a refurbished PSP HERE (a half dozen left) and am now actively comparison shopping GTA CW PSP. In the meantime I have my eye on LCS and VCS which retail at around $14 apiece. If anyone wants me to look for deals on the Nintendo DS as well I will do so.

I'm looking forward to it but I hope that the controls are easier then on GTA:VCS. I couldn't work with those, but that's just me. Also I would really like to see the DLC for GTA IV come to pc. I'm sure it will happen but when?

It'll happen when their sales projections for the console versions of the Episodes plateau. It's usually about 8 months to a year. Lost and Damned should have been out already. I guess they want them to be packaged together so they drag their feet. The only explanation I can come up with.

I hope they'll release em in a pack. Oh well I sure they'll get to it eventually. And in the mean time i got enough games to play.

Rockstar has managed to create a visually enhanced port. The changes aren't completely cosmetic though. The fun factor is the same but different in that the stylus has been replaced by the analog control and L/R triggers. There are more radio stations.

Originally I was worried about what RS would do with adapting CW to the different control style of the PSP. But it works just fine.

I can easlly see GTA2 reworked, updated and re-relased on DS and PSP.

I didnt realise it was set in the 'new' Liberty City. Shame Alderney was left out and parts were redesigned ie Airport.

The camera angle also takes some getting used to.

Topographically the map had to be flattened out to simplify it. Otherwise it would have been far too busy to play. The Airport for example. And Alderney is gone (i assume to save space). But the map is pretty much verbatim apart from that. Of course the function on some structures had to be changed to reflect the story. But the amount of detail they were able to pack into it is staggering. I'd like to be able to use the raised rail though.

I was impressed with what Rockstar was able to do with the GTA Advance and GB Color GTA2 maps that used much the same approach and captured the rough layout of the GTA3 Liberty City and GTA2 maps respectively. But Chinatown Wars is a huge cut above that both graphically and in sophistication. I have both the DS and PSP versions. Both are outstanding and redefine their respective platforms. Before anyone calls me a Chinatown Wars kiss-ass understand that I'm not the only one saying this. This is the highest rated game on both of these systems according to some of the most reliable and respected voices in gaming.

Best selling? Not as of yet. Yes I do realize that the DS is more geared toward kids. But there is one inevitable fact about kids. They all grow up. Barring hungry crocodiles. Kids not allowed to get CW in 2009 will be able to in a few years. Unless they all sell their DS systems or Rockstar takes CW off the market. Two unlikely eventualities. I am highly skeptical that any GTA title sold their last unit even five years after it's initial release. Most gaming fans come of age far earlier than that. So long term numbers sway in Chinatown War's favor for DS players. So even though the price for CW may drop in a few years, it's value will not.

JR, Ive noticed a few blue twirly things around. Any idea what they are? They look like small wirlwind or old school teleporters.

Theres one near Chan's garage near the start of the game. I walked into it but nothing happened.

I don't really use the MP function. I can't help you there. I don't know how it works. I may give it a try when I finish the story missions. I guess that's what a lot of people are doing right now.
