Why just out of the blue my gta3.img file upgrades itself to v2 and isn't editable? I've uninstalled/reinstalled the game, put the downgrade patch and in the past few years that worked, but just out of the blue, it upgrades back to v2? Anyone know whats going on here and how to fix it?

Well, they just can't be v2 out of the blue, so either someone or a program upgraded it without your knowledge

You can only downgrade once, I'll try redownloading the downgrade again.

Don't you mean SA? GTA 3 is only up to v1.1 AFAIK.

EDIT: I think you're actually talking about the gta3.img file.
What OS are you running? And is the game retail or steam?

Yes the img file, I bought the game in v2 downgraded it and the game is now v1 but all the files are still v2, it just starting doing this too, its worked for 2 years now, oh I'm using a older XP.
