Vcs For Ps3?, Will it work

I am planning to buy a 360 or a PS3 for GTA IV but haven't decide yet,
So I'am woundering if VCS would work on a PS3 console, cause first I belived that that would be possible but I read on Wiki that the European versions should have less compability with older games.

Cause if it is possible to play it on a PS3 I Get one of thoose, otherwise i buy more games instead.

Im not sure but I would assume it would since its a relitivly new game. There must be a list somewhere.

I have also heard that the PS3's in Europe have had something removed so they are not backward compatible with some games.

Glad I don't have to worry about that.

Yeah, I've read the european Playstation 3's have had the Emotion chips, the one that powered the ps2s games, have been completely removed, and instead relying on emulation software to run games like the 360. I do think recently released game are more compatible than older games, so you'll probably be able to play it, I am not sure though as I don't own a european ps3. You should try asking on the official uk playstation forums to find out.

With a quick search on google, I found a ps1/ps2 games compatibility list for the european ps3. Here:

Do you already have a PS3 because the new PS3's will come with software emulation, including the American and Japanese ones. Simply because it's cheaper than the hardware chip solution.

Yes, I bought one a couple weeks ago to a month ago. I haven't actually tried an older game but that's just what I researched.

Don't worry DA, the current 60 GB models still have the Emotion Engine chip installed, but after they're all gone, they'll be replaced with a new 80 GB model that won't have the chips anymore.
